What's your business and who are your customers?
XO Gift Co. is a brick & mortar gift shop carrying locally and nationally made unique products in a wide variety. Our customers are the local community as well as visitors and tourists! We carry a wide array of items including t-shirts, jewelry, baby items, doormats, birdhouses, candles, greeting cards, mugs, hats, glassware, tea towels, socks and much more. I really stick to my own personal taste as far as what I choose to carry.
Tell us about yourself
Somewhere along the way in my corporate career I decided I'd like to own a shop someday. I went on to create the place cards holders for my wedding, which led to a small wire craft business. This is what got me into the handmade scene and appreciation of these items made with love that I carry today.
What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
Just one?! :) I'd say the many ups and downs we continually face with sales is a tough thing to get used to.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Don't assume that you will gain freedom and flexibility. Be ready to work extremely hard. Don't give up!
